Simon has made progress in his breathing. His breathing tube has been out for almost two weeks and he has a crazy mask contraption on for the next few weeks. He is no longer receiving breathes from the machine, but is still receiving pressure to help keep his lungs open.
Simon has switched to formula so he can increase his calories. He gets fed through a tube, which he regularly pulls out. A few days ago he pulled out his tube for the second time that day while we were there. His nurse told us this was normal for Simon and just laughed. We then learned that most NICU babies only have their tubes replaced once a week, while Sy averages 2-3 per day. They keep calling him spirited and feisty... It seems we will have our hands full.
